- Are the HAUS NEUN candles vegan?

Yes, they are. We do not use beewax or wicks coated in beewax. Our scented fragrances are cruelty free and we do not use animal-derived ingredients or test our ingredients on animals.

- What kind of wax do you use to make your candles?

Our wax is 100% plant-based, a blend of rapeseed and coconut wax, sourced sustainably and renewably. It is non-toxic, biodegradable, and free from paraffin*, palm, soy and synthetic additives.

*Paraffin wax is derived from petroleum, originally crude oil, which is an unsustainable and non_renewable resource. Studies have also shown that paraffin wax candles emit toxic fumes when burning.

- Why don't you use essential oils for your candles?

Essential oils are very sensitive and many of them should not be heated above 45 degrees Celsius, as they can burn and release harmful vapors. A candle, however, burns at very high temperatures breaking down some essential oils and causing them to lose their beneficial properties.

From a sustainability perspective, using certain essential oils can be unsustainable due to the large quantities of raw materials required to produce a small amount of fragrance. For instance, it takes over 10.000 roses to produce just 5 ml. of rose essential oil.

To protect the planet from the over-harvesting of endangered plants, avoid animal products, and safeguard against known natural allergens, we choose to use only synthetic ingredients. These ingredients are thoroughly tested and scientifically approved to be safe for use in candles.

- Are fragrance-oils safe?

While our candles incorporate synthetic fragrance blends, they remain non-toxic to burn. Our fragrances consist of a combination of natural and high quality synthetic fragrances developed for use in candles, formulated in laboratories by expert perfumers from Grasse (France), under strict regulations, and abide by all IFRA (International Fragance Association) standars.

All the fragrance oils we use are phthalates free, free from petroleum, CMR (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, Reprotoxic) substances, parabens, and animal-derived ingredients.

- What is the life span of your candles?

We recommend burning your candles within one year for peak performance.

- Do you do custom-made candles and/or refills?

Yes, we do. If you are interested in wholesale conditions or for a custom made order for a special ocassion, please contact us. We love hearing from you!

- What about your choices on labels and packaging?

We strive to keep our labels and packaging simple, sustainable, and minimal. Our labels are made of leaf residues, and when boxes and wrapping materials are necessary, we opt for FSC_certified recycled and recycable paper.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! We ship to most international destinations.
